Rev. Bray says "Present-day students of eschatology seem woefully ignorant of the writings of past theologians on these subjects. There was a time (prior to the mid-1800s) when the most prominent interpretation of Matthew 24 was from the preterite standpoint, and the dating of the book of Revelation was believed to be at an earlier date than is now believed." Representing a lifetime of Biblical research and years of garnering rare Bible commentaries from the greatest libraries around the world, Matthew 24 Fulfilled restores a Biblical interpretation of prophecy and gives a careful verse-by-verse exposition of the pivotal Chapter 24 of Matthew's Gospel. Presenting the historical context and Biblical background to Christ's prophecy, Rev. Bray gives a compelling case that Matthew 24 was indeed fulfilled in A.D. 70.

What more can I say? The title of my comment says it all! I came to this view many years ago after reading Luke 17:20-37; verses that many do not consider when studying Mat. 24, Mk. 13 and Lke. 21. These verses in Luke 17 affirm to us that either what Christ was talking about was all past, or all future. I knew that it was not all future, so the only thing left to conclude was that it was all past. I came to these conclusions on my own before studying anyone else who had seen this as all having taken place in the past in the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. And it was later that I came across Adam Clarke's commentary that is also very insightful with regards to all of this. But this book of John Bray's is the book to get and read on this very important and vital subject that has nothing to do with us or future Jews in our day, but with the generation ("this generation") that Christ said in Luke 17:26 was to reject Him. This is the same "generation" in context that Jesus also said later when discussing these same things again with His disciples, that, "this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened" (Mat. 24:34). What "generation" need we ask? The generation that rejected Him! Until what "things" have happened? All the things that He said would be signs leading up to Him coming in His kingdom as the Son of Man with manifest power as seen in Jerusalem's desolation, not her restoration, which is exactly what the analogy of the fig tree (and "all the trees," mind you, in Lke. 21:29) was being used for; saying nothing at all of Israel becoming a nation in 1948 that is based solely upon an a priori theological bias, and not upon an honest and forthright exegesis of the text. Anything else is only an eisegesis.

Another excellent companion book to this one on Daniel's Seventy Weeks, and the abomination that makes desolate as being the Roman armies whom Christ coming as the Son of Man sends to destroy both the temple and the city of Jerusalem in 70 A.D., is: The People of the Prince, the Coming One! It is also available through Amazon.

Matthew 24 Fulfilled John L Bray Books Reviews

When I read this book suddenly all the fear about the end of the world was gone. Afterwards I went about my life to try to make the world a better place. It gave me courage and hope and increased my faith in Jesus and my love for the scriptures.
Item as described and arrived in a timely manner. Thanks!
It is refreshing to read someone who has taken the time and effort to study what Jesus predicted AND not then somehow fast forward such to a time 2000 years later, as so many "end time" preachers, etc., have
Great Book !!! Argument is solid.
Highly informative. A must read for all to learn the
correct understanding of Matthew 24 & realated passages.

The author does a great job of explaining The Lord's
preditions concerning the destruction of Jerusalem & the
temple in A.D.70. It opened my eyes & helps dispell many
of the errors currently taught in the modern church around
"end times" events. A great deal of effort was included
by the author to help the reader realize the context of
Matthew 24.

This is one great book, a must for all who wish to
know the truth. I also recommend "Perilous Times"
by Ken Gentry and "The Destruction of Jerusalem" by
George P.Holford. It would be a good idea to purshase
all three of these books as a bundle.
This is an excellent and thorough treatment of the last days that needs to be read in our time when so many people falsely predict the second coming without paying attention to the context and audience that the Biblical authors were targeting. Buy two and give one to someone else.
This book does a good job of making a preterist argument from basically the J. S. Russell/Duncan McKenzie/Gerald Haug paradigm (the Parousia happened in 70AD but there is still a bit of prophecy to go). One of the strengths of the book is the lengths the author goes to in quoting well respected theologians such as John Owens, John Lightfoot, and John Gill. I liked the information on Matthew 24 itself, but the book becomes much more than that. It's really a clearly written primer on the preterist outlook in general.
